HISTORY :
Introduction :
A spirited gardener of Nai Talim like Shri Nanubhai Shiroya for nourishing the rose plants in soil without water gets produce of flowers in abundance from those rose plants with his unique effort. As a result, this institute spreading fragrance in all directions like the rose flower is like triveni sangam (confluence) of udyog, social reconstruction and social service. Donors all over the country and abroad have certified its education. Confident that leading persons in education would also certify it. Nai Talim institutions in Gujarat have lighted many lamps of knowledge in backward, tribal, remote and undeveloped areas and have awakened a new consciousness in people, let them on path of development and manifested a new life on them through various constructive activities. The story of this regenerating work is really interesting and pleasing. These institutions have aroused an indomitable hunger, in the classes of society neglected since thousands of years - scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other socio-economically backward classes and in women of each and every class for education, development and improvement of their lives. This reveals a glimpse of social transformation through Nai Talim.
Valukad on Palitana Road :
Shri Dalsukhbhai Godhani who was born in the Godhani family of Satuababa of Kashi resolved a holy will to establish a good educational institution - Saraswati Mandir at some time. To fulfil that will, His attention drew to Valukad village.
Foreign-travelers coming to India will certainly come for 'darshan' to the holy land of Palitana in Saurashtra, Palitana has been popular as a religious holy 'Tirth' due to the Jain temples on Shetrunjay mountain and Jain saints and sages residing in Palitana and their religious activities.
Vinay Vihar Education Trust is established in Valukad village which has historical importance situated at the north-west direction of Palitana Taluka.
Establishment :
Up to the seventh decade of the twentieth century there was a big zero in respect of secondary education in villages of the Palitana taluka. Not a single village out of ninety villages of the taluka, had the facility of std. VII onward with a desire to do something for development of the society. In those time, Shri Dalsukhbhai Godhani of the Ratanpur village studied in the National Gramvidyapith like 'Lok Bharati - Sanosara' under the vertuous educationist like Shri Nanubhai Bhatt and became a graduate. Then he got a chance to go abroad for further studies in agriculture. After his return on completion of his studies he once come to Valukad and discussed with local leaders as to start on institution in the village and thus a thought emerged to start on educational institution in the village.
After that at the day of 8th Jun 1963 the leaders of taluka came to Valukad village. With them Shri Dayalbhai Patel, Shri Bhavanbhai Sankadasariya, Shri Dalichand Sanghvi, Shri Kurjibha Vaghasiya, the muslim friend Karimbhai Jusabbhai and the leading farmers from neighbor villages like Shri Khodabhai Kalabhai form Hanol, Shri Devshibhai Bhimani from Navagam attended the Council and Shri Dalsukhbhai Godhani had given proper guidance to them.
He explained them at length about the need of education that illuminates all the fields of life for the all-round awakening and development of the society and not simply that imparting information of different subjects. If it is so then, it is the Nai Talim proper, Mahatma Gandhi called it his last and the best gift. They all thought to start such an institution, which they named as Lok Vidyalay. It was a good sign that local leaders also were not interested in general type of High school education. Moreover, Shri Bhavanbhai, then Sarpanch of the village was a public leader coloured with national ideology - a selfless, serviceable and courageous leader. This institution was that fortunate to get cooperation and warmth of such a wise leader from the very beginning the first meeting and it was decided in this first meeting that the Valukad Grampanchayat will allot 30 acres of the gouchar land in the village padar (Village's front ground) for starting an educational institution. In the beginning, at the initial stage, it will provide financial assistance of Rs. 2 thousand for erecting a building. Moreover the local leaders of the village assured all the necessary help and cooperating in further also.

Helmsman of the Institution :
From the very beginning of the institution the institution got industrious workers like Shri Nanubhai Shiroya and Shri Bhimajibhai jasani. There was heredity of Gandhian thought in the blood of Nanubhai. His village was Ingorala (Dand). His father Shri Mohanbhai Shiroya. In that village he was known as Mohanbhai Gandhi. He was associated with Shri Lallubhai Sheth in works like Khadi and people's service. He joined in the Gram seva mandal of the Kundala Taluka and took the lead of eradication of untouchability from his (own) home. In the times of independence movement and then after he kept a harijan boy as a member of his family and as such he was debarred from the caste by his revolutionary step. Even then Mohan Gandhi who had digested the Gandhian thought did not bend down. The elder son Nanubhai Shiroya of such Mohan Gandhi had the Gandhian thought in blood and then in his bringing up. He took his secondary education in Lokshala Khadasali and learnt lessons of self-reliance and labour. He used to run night school in the Khadasali village from his oung age. Then after he could know the philosophy of the Nai Talim and its practical form Lokbharti - education. Shri Nanubhai attained the ideals of Shri Nanubhai Bhatt and Shri Mulshankarbhai Bhat. Moreover, such Nanubhai was fortunate to get Shri Mangalabahen who had similar ideals.
